How We Started:
The Black Swan Group was founded in 2008 by Chris Voss, a 24-year veteran of the FBI. The FBI has been a long time thought leader in the negotiation space. After retiring as the FBI’s lead international kidnapping negotiator, Chris started The Black Swan Group with the aim of bringing his special knowledge and experience to the business world.
What is a Black Swan:
In 16th Century London, “Black Swan” was synonymous with impossibility. In recent years it has been redefined in the financial sector as the Black Swan Theory to mean “an unexpected occurrence that has a major effect on the outcome”. The Black Swan Group believes there are 3-5 Black Swans in every negotiation. We teach specific negotiation skills that enable you to handle the unpredictable, uncover Black Swans, and navigate your course to success in your negotiations.
